| | Electrical Testing Our diverse Electrical Laboratory capabilities include measurements from DC
to 20 GHz. The equipment assigned to the laboratory is among the
most accurate available for the specific measurements of interest.
We believe it is the most comprehensive range of testing disciplines
of any laboratory in our industry. A general overview of the services
we provide includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Arc Resistance
- Capacitance
- Comparative Tracking Index (CTI)
- Conductive Anodic Filament (CAF)
- Conductivity
- Crosstalk
- Current Breakdown
- Current Carrying Capability
(to 300 Amps DC @ 30 Volts) - Dielectric Constant (Permittivity)/
Dissipation Factor (Loss Tangent), 60 Hz to 20 GHz - Dielectric Strength
- Dielectric Withstanding Voltage (DWV)
| - Impedance and Time
Delay of Lines by TDR (Single-Ended and Differential) - Interconnection Resistance
- Insulation Resistance
- Leakage Current
- Low Level DC Resistance
Measurements (4 Wire Technique) - Power
- Propagation Delay
- Q (Resonance)
- Surface Insulation Resistance
(SIR) - Surface Resistivity
- Volume Resistivity
|
| The testing
method generally used for characterizing Permittivity and
Loss Tangent (Dielectric Constant andDissipation Factor) at
frequencies ranging from 1 GHz to 20 GHz is a Coplanar Stripline
Resonator. The traditional coupling approach simply cannot
cover such a wide frequency band. A new design using a Coplanar
line to Stripline transition is used to solve this problem.
|
 | The center conductor of the Coplanar line is designed to overlap the Center Resonator line to provide enough coupling at low frequency. Since the Coplanar line is built on the top surface, the overlap length can be trimmed to satisfy the coupling requirements at high frequencies. The photo shows our state of the art Vector Network Analyzer being used to conduct S-Parameter Tests from 40 MHz to 20 GHz.

test of Permittivity and Loss Tangent (Dielectric Constant
and Dissipation Factor) at X-Band (8 to 12.4 GHz), showing
various equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Frequency
Counters, Sweep Oscillator, Power Meters, etc. Measurements
are made under actual stripline conditions using a resonant
strip circuit, which is separated from the ground planes by
sheets of the material to be tested.
